Know Before You Go
Getting to and from the airport
- Airports are open and operating normally. The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation advises arriving at least 3 hours early for transpacific flights and 90 minutes early for interisland flights.
- Reconfirm your flight status directly with your airline before departing for the airport.
On the road
- Stay off the roads during severe conditions — never attempt to drive through flowing or rising water.
- Avoid forested and coastal areas due to risks from rising streams, flash flooding, falling trees, storm surge, and high surf.
Activities
- Check directly with your activity and tour operators regarding any schedule changes to your reservations.
- Stay out of ocean water when it appears brown or murky — avoid ocean water for 48–72 hours after rain stops and beaches have received full sunshine. Hotel and resort pools remain a great option for guests in the meantime.
