2025 Queen Lili‘uokalani Keiki Hula Competition

HONOLULU (January 25, 2025) – The Kalihi-Pālama Culture & Arts Society, Inc. is proud to present the 2025 Queen Lili‘uokalani Keiki Hula Competition on July 24, 25 & 26, 2025 at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center in celebration of its 50th Anniversary. The public is invited to attend as more than 600 young hula dancers compete in the world’s longest-running keiki hula event. The dancers, ages 6 to 12, represent 25 hula hālau from O‘ahu, Maui, Kaua‘i, Hawaiʻi Island, and for the first time, Toronto, Canada.
The three-day schedule is as follows:
Thursday, July 24 Miss & Master Solo Hula Competition 4:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Friday, July 25 Hula Kahiko (Traditional Hula) 4:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Saturday, July 26 Hula ʻAuana (Contemporary Hula) Noon – 7:00 PM
Individual hula dancers compete for the titles of Miss Keiki Hula and Master Keiki Hula on the first night of the competition. The kahiko (traditional) group competition for kaikamāhine (girls) and keikikāne (boys) will take place on the second night, followed by the ʻauana (contemporary) group competition on the third day.
The general public is invited to visit the Exhibition Hall which is home to the Keiki Hula Festival: Pop-Up Mākeke will showcase local artists and their crafts; the Hawaiʻi State Archives will place on display treasures of Hawaiʻi’s royal family as well as other historic memorabilia; a Hōʻike Stage will present hula and Hawaiian music throughout the day, and Paikini Plaza will feature many of Hawaiʻi’s well-known clothing designers.
